A Convenient System for Pension Insurance

Because of one-child policy, China is in an aging society now. Most of Chinese familes are 4-2-1 structure. One child, parents, 4 grandparents. In this situation, Pension Insurance is a very important topic. To grant the insurance to old people, the information collection is a basic process. The government should collect correct information to make sure every old people can benefit from the insurance and the money is not wrongly distributed.

Normally this procedure is done by visit and find out the living conditions of old people. But in this way, the working efficiency will be very low. Furthermore, later years it is important to ensure whether the person is still alive. With the development of artificial intelligent, you may think about using fingerprint collection. Fingerprint can be used as a survival certificate, it can make sure that each old people can be correctly enrolled in this system and won’t make duplicated certificate, better than just visit.

However, fingerprint system has its limits. It still could not solve the problem of working efficiency. For old people, they are not convenient in moving. Hence, a long-distance system should be made to save this kind of situation.

Luckily, the only remote biometric technology whose name is voiceprint recognition can meet this requirement quite well. It is very convenient. They don’t need to go to a fixed station to do survival authentication with this new system. Instead, make a call is enough to enroll to pension insurance system. Additionally, the processing time is short and the working efficiency will be higher.

There are companies that already made this proposal. I hope it can be put into use as soon as possible.

Hi, nice blog post. Do you think that there are other limits that apply to this technology when we compare it with finger print recognition? For example, will it not be possible to record someone and use this as proof of life? Can’t we edit a recording? Doesn’t the voice of person change in time? I’ve red that the biggest changes occur in adolescence, but when we talk about aging, muscles to perform the speaking action weaken and therefor this might influence a measurement? Thanks for the nice link! I believe what you said should all be taken into consideration when professionals build the system. And I think there already exists anti-recordings technology.

This sounds like a nice idea to support the elderly and it will be a great advantage for those in remote locations. Of course it should be a reliable technology because without human contact, people will definitely try to abuse the system.

Yes, human contact is necessary. You can’t rely on one techonology to solve all the problem, but you can make the most use of it.

this idea is quite good!! the problem is ,as we all know ,some old people are alone at home .if there’s something happens for instance if they are dead. How are we able to make them speak and use the voice data?

There should be back-up plan from government or organization as well. Additionly, it is jsut for registration and confirmation, in this way, people that died will not be in the system anymore.

I think it is a great idea to use voice recognition in this applicationl. The elderly can just stay at home and do there verification. But is this a waterproof system? I can imagine a lot of trouble coming up if it is the right person but doesn’t get recognized. Than that person will not be able to do his or her verification. I think there should also be a back up system. And what about people who don’t have computers because maybe a lot ofolder chinese people will not have acces to that.
